The Springfield History Curriculum project is a program of Springfield Museum funded by Trust Management Services, LLC. The project's purpose is to organize existing material pertaining to the history of Springfield for use by third-grade teachers in District 19. This Springfield City project was made possible by a grant received from The Trust Management Services. We gratefully acknowledge their sponsorship.
Thanks to the creativity and hard work of the project coordinators, Barbara Pope and Debbie Farr, many ideas for using historic information as a way to teach mathematics, mapping and more are starting points for each teacher's own creative work. In addition, Ms. Pope and Ms. Farr did extensive research on interesting and unusual aspects local history as well as a thorough general history.
