City History by People: Sarah Jane Stevens Armitage

Mrs. Sarah Jane Armitage, 79, died March 1913 in Eugene, Oregon. She was born Sarah Jane Stevens in Ray County, Tennessee on October 4, 1833 to father, William M. Stevens and married on November 21, 1851 to George H. Armitage. She was survived by sons, Frank L. Armitage of Eugene, OR and S. C. Armitage of Portland, OR; daughter, Mrs. Ella V. Henderson of Denver, CO.

She is listed in the Lane County Census for 1860. Sarah is buried in Gillespie Cemetery along with her husband.

She was living with her husband "near Eugene" by 1884. [1]
